Introduction

The PESM builder is used to create an approved, bespoke partial exemption special method calculation for the VAT Return, with or without sectors.  

Once you have selected the special method option on the VAT Calculation options page, you will be taken to the PESM Settings screen where you can choose to create your PESM calculation with or without sectors.

PESM Calculation without sectors

If you choose this option, the PESM Builder will present you with additional boxes so that you can choose your recovery method and rounding requirements.

PESM Calculation with sectors

If you choose this option, the PESM builder will take you through the set up process steps. This involves defining the sectors that your PESM calculation requires, setting up the recovery methods for each sector and defining any attribution steps that are required to allocate residual indirect tax to the sectors for recovery.
