Release overview for version 4.4

Welcome to the AlphaVAT version 4.4 release, which includes the following new features and updates:

New features

For this release we have introduced the following new features:

  • Automated data treatments: Automate the blocking of VAT on transactions, or exclusion of transactions from the Return. Users can now add rules in the Entity Summary screen to automatically block or exclude transactions. When a calculation is run, any transactions meeting this rule will be blocked or excluded and can be reviewed in the ‘Preview and analysis’ section.

  • Foreign Exchange: Automate more of the process using our foreign exchange capability. We can now convert transaction values from non-GBP currencies to GBP using HMRC’s published exchange rates. Alternatively, you can use a column of data from your own source files to define the rate of exchange.

  • Xlsx/xls Excel file uploads: Have greater flexibility in the file types you can upload. We now support a wider range of Excel file types. You can also upload files with multiple tabs and select which tabs within the file you want to proceed with .

  • Template management: Certain users can now archive unused templates using the new template manager. This is found in the calculation options screen .

  • Single sign-on: We have enabled single sign-on (SSO). You may notice the flow for logging into the application has changed but there is no change to your credentials so please continue as normal. You will be required to enter login credentials when accessing the application for the first time after the release as the application URL has been updated. Password managers will need updating with this URL. If your company has whitelisted the previous version of the login URL, you may need to request that your IT team whitelist this new version if you experience an issue logging in. If this is the case or you notice any issues logging in – please contact our support team on 01784 777 666 or support@taxsystems.com.

  • VAT wording changes: We have updated the wording on the VAT Return for changes post-Brexit.

Enhancements

We have made the following improvements to the user interface and layout:

  • PESM enhancements: Our PESM calculation feature has been extended to our latest engine.

  • Reconciliation reports: We have added reconciliation reports for manual adjustments and changes resulting from custom data checks.

  • Block or Exclude custom data checks: Users can now block or exclude transactions as a result of a custom data check without needing to go back to the source file upload.

  • Map file error management: We have added more warnings where users map data that is not in an acceptable format (for example, words as dates) in order to help users diagnose where issues may arise.

  • UI Enhancements: We have made a number of UI enhancements to improve the layout of the screen and navigation around the solution.

Bug fixes

We have fixed a number of bugs that were previously identified.
