Recovery method options

The recovery method options are:

Recovery method

Description

Percentage

This method allows for direct input of the recovery percentage and will be appropriate where:

  • the recovery rate is already calculated outside of AlphaVAT,

  • the data required to calculate the rate is not within the financial statements uploaded to AlphaVAT, or

  • the other available methods are not applicable.

A description input is also provided, that must be completed.

Taxable sales amount

The recovery rate is calculated based on the ratio of the value of taxable sales over total sales for the sector. Selecting this option will prompt AlphaVAT to present additional calculation inputs at the Map files  stage.

Taxable sales count

The recovery rate is calculated based on the ratio of the number of taxable supplies over the total number of supplies for the sector. Selecting this option will prompt AlphaVAT to present additional calculation inputs at the  Map files  stage.

Custom table amount

Additional mapping options will be provided for a custom A/B calculation based on the values within a mapped separate table. Use the Amount mapping column heading for this separate uploaded table.

NOTE: This recovery method requires a separate CSV file to be uploaded containing the table of recovery data.

Custom table count

As above but will count the number of items for the custom A/B calculation.

NOTE: This recovery method requires a separate CSV file to be uploaded containing the table of recovery data.

Fraction

This method, like the Percentage method, allows for direct input of the recovery rate but expressed as a fraction. A description input is also provided.

Pool rate

The pool rate involves taking an average of the recovery for the remaining non-pool rate sectors, calculated as input VAT recoverable over total input VAT. This percentage is then used in the recovery for the pool rate sector.

Click the  Manage pool  button to add or remove sectors from the pool via the resulting dialogue.
